Care of Ultrasound Machine
Added to makers own user instructions precautions care and warnings, tips that may help to extend use, prevent problems, reduce damages and malfunctions of veterinary ultrasound scanners, electrical equipment in general.
Transducer Precautions Prevention and Problems:
Probes / Transducers
A fundamental problem of faulty, worn, poor or damaged ultrasound transducers may result in Ultrasound exams for imaging to perform reliable diagnostic exams. Resulting in quality of the visual areas assessment or the systemic functionality. Poor image with lines, missing areas or bright or dark bands, incorrect measurements deformation electrical leakage are common results.
Difficult to see the areas of interest, even whilst ultrasound exam scans performed by experienced and professionals. such problems, may add, obscure detection of critical information or structure within the anatomy during Imaging examination. For repairs and replacements with own carful good observations such faults must be relayed back to the engineers.
Initiate Repair
Send such enquiry by providing contact and detailed part of the article, numbers of the make by connector and machine model. At times repair timing can be long for technical repairs. Depending on availability, and best route, a replacement route can extend usage of the main system.
Provide Probe connector details, existing problem. Damage photos, scan issue related Images.
Transducer Cables:
Intermittent lines or image, regular scaped missing or white sections, complete dark image. can also damage main system by loading or other shorts. Care should be taken and report any faults, during use, avoid instances of possibilities or pulling or trapping cables for not to damage cable connectors.
Mechanical Shock:
Will result in cracked housing, permanently dark or missing areas.
Avoid chances of dropping probe on hard surfaces or cuts and shock to sensor areas of arrays. Users must read understand makers precautions, avoid misuse and mishandling during use of any sensitive medical equipment as per recommendations.
Fluid damage:
White flashing lines in image, complete dead system, smoke or fire, read cleaning and avoid fluids where possible from directly exposing unrelated parts of the systems whilst also helping to improve cleanliness and working practices. Stop using system or item exposed to fluid
Cleaning Transducers
Follow separate instructions in user manual for sterile procedures.
Protect and keep transducers, sensor areas, array cables clean, as recommended methods only. where allowed, use water or mild soap only. Avoid strong reactive reagents, acids, solvents or perfumed or corrosive or chemicals or materials. Avoid sharps, scrubs, near the cable and array sensor parts. Anything which may mark, effect, cut or damage plastics, rubber or bonding including any glue and sealants or insulation or sensor materials. Avoid use completely, if exposed by fluids to the connector’s conductive parts, pins and any unreported worn broken parts.
Storage and transport:
Carry probes in protective bag, avoid hard or sharp surface contact to array, do not, pull, trap, bend cables in sharp or small curves. Avoid loose dust, grass, cotton, storing with probe and probe connectors.
