Good quality gel provides accurate contact for general abdominal, equine tendon or muscle measurement areas, better viscosity allows longer and better contact and transmission of sound for required visualisation and for accurate image acquisition of anatomical sturctures, equine tendon etc
Must be used as per resultant of the ultrasound image which is to be obtained or improvised. For detailed improvements of scanning techniques, preset of the scanner can be modified for with and without stand-off scanning.
Some parameters like depth, gain, focus…should be adjusted for normal and with stand-off imaging separately, as to compensate delays in terms of depth change, re application of gel as a transmission reduces echo wave, darker segments and reflection afteffects. increased echo signal due to displaced gel during scans and removes any minute levels of echo attenuations due to air gaps.
User presets of the scanner can be modified and saved for with and without stand-off tendon examinations. Though , any minor adjustments may save time during real time ultrasound examination and improve outcome of the diagnosis or sports validations, supporting decisions by real time ultrasound examinations and observations made by most skilled veterinarians.
